Integrating the Nutrition Care Process & Terminology Text into the Curriculum: Tips from Fontbonne
A key indicator of curriculum success is the quality of student learning and... student learning depends largely on the timing of exposure to new information.
Certain NCPro activities are designed to go hand-in-hand with foundation Medical Nutrition Therapy teachings. Educators have reported that teaching a complete case enhances the quality of student learning near the end of the curriculum.

Implementing NCPro activities in your curriculum? How to estimate time per activity.
It can be challenging for students and educators to guage the time required to complete the online activities. For planning purposes instructors need to know how long each activity will take. The NCPro cases do not require each student to learn in the same way and in the same number of hours. This University had a unique approach to teaching last semester. The Home Enteral Nutrition case involves several visits by the dietitian. The class was divided into three groups, each group acting as a single practitioner. As part of their assessment students in their groups were required to prepare a "handover" presentation at the end of each consultation for the next group.
Students were marked on their ability to gather, interpret and relay critical pieces of data in order for the following group to continue the nutrition intervention....

What are students learning by evaluating their nutrition progress notes?
In fall 2020 we introduced a new activity for students who were advanced and were ready to write progress notes summarizing nutrition care. The evaluation tool was adapted from the tool developed by Dee Pratt, Dietitian Associates, Inc that she used as a consultant when she evaluated progress notes.
This fall so far, 70 students have used the evaluation tool to evaluate their own or their classmates nutrition progress notes, sometimes as a group activity and sometimes as an individual assignment.
