Selecting Case Activities for Extra Skill Building Tailored to Student Needs
Often a dietetics student may be in situations where they would benefit from additional work on a specific type of nutrition care activity. In those situations, the instructor may want to choose specific activities and provide the student the opportunity to demonstrate that they have mastered the skills.
To make it easier for instructors to select specific types of activities we have created the following activity groupings that gather activities across the 5-7 indepth nutrition care cases on the website:
- Nutrition Analysis using Diabetic Exchanges (converting diet histories into diabetic exchanges)
- Choose from Adult Weight Management, Hypertension, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Malnutrition and Oncology, Pediatric Weight Management and other cases as they are added
- Evaluating intake with Dietary Guidelines
- Summarizing Nutrition Assessment
- Students have to complete all the activities leading up to the Nutrition Analysis Summary, however you only ask them to turn in
the Summary which includes the key important results.
- Students have to complete all the activities leading up to the Nutrition Analysis Summary, however you only ask them to turn in
- Nutrition Diagnoses
- Three types of activities from the cases are included: Evaluating pre-existing Nutrition Diagnosis, Creating Initial List of Nutrition Diagnoses, Developing PES Statements
